soul rebels with Miriam Siré Camara
Dive into an inspiring hour of music, meaning, and movement as "soul rebels" unites global changemakers to share the soundtracks of their activism. This show emphasizes music as memory, resistance, and survival, showcasing voices that demand to be felt rather than merely heard. It's a celebration of the stories embedded in rhythm and sound, highlighting the journeys of those who challenge the status quo.
In this episode, DJ Nomi, a Stuttgart-born, Berlin-based DJ with Ghanaian roots and one of the first female Afrobeats DJs in Germany, is my guest. Her journey is one of resistance - against a scene that told her "that's a man's thing," against sabotage from male DJs who unplugged her cables before sets, against the invisibility that women in nightlife are expected to accept. Nomi refused. She built her own platform, co-founding the legendary Afro Heat party series (now Freak de l'Afrique), and carved out space where none was offered. As a single mother balancing club nights with school mornings, she dismantles the myth that motherhood and ambition are incompatible. Her philosophy is direct: "The people who don't want you to succeed are your greatest motivation." Tune in for a conversation about claiming space, defying expectations, and the radical act of persisting when every system tells you to stop.
Tune in to "soul rebels," where rhythm meets revolution and listeners embark on a journey of inspiration for change on a local and global scale. Listen with an open heart …
