What Our Voices Remember – On Listening, Healing and the Sounds of Resistance

What do our voices carry across borders, generations, and histories? What happens to the stories we are told to silence? And what becomes possible when we begin to truly listen to one another?

In this one-hour sonic journey, Rafia Shahnaz explores the intimate and political landscapes of voice, silence and listening. Moving between personal reflections, music, sound and storytelling, the show traces how our bodies and voices carry memories of migration, colonialism, queerness, belonging and resistance.

Rooted in somatic practices, healing justice and the lived experiences of queer, trans and BIPOC communities, the show invites us to listen beyond words — to grief, anger, tenderness, joy and the sounds of collective survival.

An invitation to remember that our voices carry not only what we have survived, but also what we love, what we dream of, and the worlds we are still imagining together.

Because sometimes healing begins not with speaking, but with being heard.
