With Sabiwa, ILYICH, Morgan Sully and bela

Music & Politics: Ruptures and Solidarities In this conversation, 3 artists from Threesound will gather to listen and exchange about the institutional contexts, militarization and political upheavals their music draws from. These artists—working and witnessing at the intersections of club culture, protest, and experimental performance—gather to explore how revolutionary moments are transformed into living, breathing acts of resistance. Through site-specific exhibitions, sonic rituals, queer embodiment and digital experimentation, their music and sounds bring us into immersive soundscapes echoing histories of struggle while proposing new ways forward for solidarity. Whether through bela’s reimagining of Korean folk in a gothic queer lens, Sabiwa’s audiovisual excavations of identity and texture, or ILYICH’s jazz, improv and storytelling each artist brings a unique response to the question: what can protest sound like today? Blurring the lines between demonstration and dancefloor, fixed tradition and unwritten futures, this dialogue delves into how music can hold grief, joy, defiance, and hope—turning celebration into political praxis and the club into a site of collective memory and liberation.
