Azulecer, or Bluening, is about taking the time to slow down from the mind: to breathe wide, to feel the life we carry within us, to dance a little if the body asks for it, and to meet your blue sky from within. Whether there is blue sky and sun outside or we have to shine it from inside, azulecer is to paint your morning blue.
The show grew out of a long research on the colour. Not the blue we were told it means (the blues), but the blue that feels to me, as a synesthetic person: blue vibes feel joyful, calm, spacious, intimate, wild and frenetic, like the ocean, a little unpredictable.
Every episode is built like a collage of different emotions around blue. Records I found here and there, some recordings, poems, and fragments from my own archive. So maybe the Azulecer music selection feels a bit chaotic. It travels through many different states, often staying within the dancy :)
Azulecer, ultimately and at first, was an invented word that means: blueing. To paint the soul blue. To paint life blue, in a summer sunshine, blue-sky tone. To turn a grey feeling blue so it becomes a learning. To flow inside the sea. To float. To swim. To flow inside your own temple of water. To share, to grow, to regenerate. To pray to the goddesses of music. To connect with you all through music. To learn, to heal, to live.
Irene’s research explores the curative power of art, as well as that of sound and blue.
