Violent arrest of Refuge Worldwide resident NanaBcool

Statement.

A video was widely shared online last week, depicting several Berlin police officers violently attacking NanaBcool, (singer, artist and Refuge Worldwide resident), in a U-Bahn station.

This shocking footage is harrowing and deeply triggering for many people around us, showing a completely unnecessary level of brutal force.

Incidents like this should not be happening here or anywhere, and all too often disproportionally affect Black people both in this city and around the world.

We call on Berlin’s authorities to immediately review this deplorable incident, the actions of their police officers, and issue an apology to NanaBcool. _
