Mehmet Aslan | Residency
The Berlin-based, Basel-raised producer Mehmet Aslan spent much of the past decade building a hard-earned reputation for his nuanced and eclectic sonic palette that, much like his Turkish immigrant family’s homeland, has always acted as a bridge between the European and Middle Eastern sensibilities.
A childhood absorbing Turkish music was only the beginning of an esoteric trip down a rabbit hole of fascinating, often unusual music, enrapturing dancefloors with his record collection alongside his own, equally varied productions.
This perspective has been a constant presence ever since Aslan's breakthrough Mechanical Turk EP in 2014 on Glasgow’s Huntleys & Palmers label. And it comes to the forefront once again with Aslan’s debut album, The Sun Is Parallel, which finds the producer continuing to explore themes of community and migration in his work.
