
Dr. Cornelia Lund
Dr. Cornelia Lund is an art, film and media scholar and curator living in Berlin. She has worked for years in research and teaching, mainly on audiovisual artistic practices, documentary film and practices, design theory, and de- and postcolonial theories (including at University of Applied Sciences Vorarlberg, University of Applied Sciences Hamburg, Humboldt University Berlin, HTW University of Applied Sciences Berlin, the University of the Arts Bremen and PUC São Paulo).
2001 to 2003 she worked as scientific coordinator at IZKT, International Center for Research on Culture and Technology, University of Stuttgart. Since 2004, she has been co-director of fluctuating images, an independent and non-commercial platform for media art and design with a focus on audiovisual artistic production. In 2012 she ahs been a visiting professor for “Culture. Aesthetic. Media” at University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf. From 2012 to 2018, she has been Senior Research Fellow in the project “The History of German Documentary Cinema 1945–2005” at Hamburg University (funded by the DFG). In 2020 she has been an assistant professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Institute for German Studies: Literature, Language, Media as well as guest professor at Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo. In 2021 to 2022 she worked as Concept and Project Manager for “Archive Paola Yacoub” (funded by Stiftung Kunstfonds). Currently, she is a Research Fellow at the University of the Arts Bremen (2021–).
She has curated and collaborated on numerous screenings and exhibitions, latest examples are Connecting Afro Futures. Fashion x Hair x Design (2019), Laboratoire Kontempo Kinshasa–Berlin (2021/2022), Under Construction (2023–). In 2006 she has been project manager for Antoni Muntadas at Wuerttembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart. In 2007 she has been curator of Exploring Party, in 2011 guest curator at Index Festival New York, and 2018-2019 she has been project curator of Connecting Afro Futures. Fashion – Hair – Design (incl. Magalog) at the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin, supported by the German Federal Cultural Foundation.
She is a member of GfM Gesellschaft für Medienwissenschaft and its Forum Antirassismus Medienwissenschaft network, NECS – European Network for Cinema and Media Studies, the Besides the Screen network, and 2014-2018 she has been a member of DokArt Hamburg.
Cornelia Lund is co-editor and author, together with Holger Lund, of Audio.Visual – On Visual Music and Related Media (Arnoldsche, 2009), Design der Zukunft (AV Edition, 2014) and the online platform lundaudiovisualwritings (2017). She is also co-editor and author of The Audiovisual Breakthrough (2015) and the online platform Post-digital Culture (2015-ongoing) and Connecting Afro Futures (2019). Her work as a curator includes numerous screenings and exhibitions (e.g. Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart, Mapping Festival Geneva, Academy of the Arts Berlin, Index Festival New York, Hamburger Architektursommer). Cornelia Lund is a compiler and co-producer for Seismographic Records.
