Seismo Talk is back with its second episode, delving into the subcultural pop scene of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Afrofuturism, intertwined with the everyday realities of Kinshasa’s streets, is giving rise to new musical genres and forging a distinct identity—one that isn’t just meant to be seen through a vibrant fashion and design movement, but also wants to be heard on the world stage. The record label Seismographic Records has made it its mission to make this a reality, and it has teamed up with various players in the scene to do so. In this episode, we’d like to present the musical results of these collaborations between Berlin and Kinshasa and report on how this extraordinary partnership came about.
