Seismo Talk – A Guest Feature by Martin Georgi (Seismographic Records): In this very first edition, together with Dr. Cornelia Lund (fluctuating images), we’d like to kick things off with a historical look back at the electrification of Turkish pop music. By revisiting this pivotal era, we can gain a deeper understanding of the musical trends that have since grown out of it. Many contemporary artists are now drawing inspiration from classic Anatolian rock and pop formulas—while mixing in fresh, modern ingredients of their own. Our first studio guest is Peki Momés (already championed by tastemakers such as Coco Maria and Mr. Bongo), together with her producer Dustin Braun. Peki Momés likes to describe her sound as “Turkish City Pop”—a genre-bending blend that reflects both her roots and today’s urban vibe. How this unique sound came to life, she’ll share with us in the show, taking her debut album—freshly released on Mocambo Records—as a case study.
