Saaz & Sounds: RASMi x WANAWAL | Sunayah & Êvar Hussayni

In the second instalment of Saaz & Sounds, Sunayah, founder of RASMi, is joined by Êvar Huseyni, founder of WANAWAL to discuss their independent archival practices and recent collaborative event Sync Up: Resonance of Heritage, which reflected on modes of cultural expression, memory and storytelling throughout South Asia and West Asia/North Africa. RASMi & WANAWAL curated a joint mix of pre-2000’s music from these regions combined with post-2000’s field recordings and personal archival sounds collected by Sunayah & Êvar, surrounding themes of love, joy and resistance. The sounds were mixed by sonic archivist, producer and sound artist Olivia Melkonian.
