Smoothin Groovin | TRU:L & Mc Mad-X

Being equally fascinated with the UK soundystem universe, as well as the early UK rave scene, we thought of combining the two, this time in a contemporary fashion. Back in the late 80s, early 90s, this particular scene was revolutionary, to say the least, but their message got lost on the way, under capitalism and gatekeping in the music industry.

Bringing the MC back into focus was particularly important to us, so Lisa "Mad-X" became the heart of our shows. She’s one of the few MCs who fluidly navigates through both the old-school way of "toasting" & "chatting", as well as the newest UK rapping styles.

Along with a more 'traditional' Dub/ Lovers/ Rare Grooves selection, we also included a very serious dose of House & Acid, some UKG and even echoes of Amapiano, for instance.

...and everything in between, being a Brixton, South London native with over 20 years of experience on the microphone.
