Skandal-Los-A narrative spanning 6 generations of Afro-German family history

What does it mean to trace Black German history through the voices of women who lived it? In this show, Lorena takes us back to the German Empire, exploring the realities of colonial migration, the complexities of early Afro-German identity and the quiet yet tremendous acts of Black German resistance. By bringing deeply personal family knowledge into the light, this episode breaks a long cycle of silence and reclaims a crucial part of history.

This podcast is part of "Skandal-los: 6 Generationen Afrodeutsche Geschichte"—a multi-generational project honoring 120 years of German-Cameroonian history through the female perspectives of the Wonja Michael and Pantring Richter families. Spanning six generations from the colonial era to the present and beyond, the initiative encompasses live readings, community workshops in Berlin, Cologne, and Bayreuth, a five-part radio podcast, a booklet, and a digital platform.
