Signals from Gaswerk Music Days | Gaswerk Team, Elle Kai, Andreas Völk & libelle

Leading up to Gaswerk Music Days festival, this ongoing series on Refuge Worldwide introduces selected artists from the festival lineup alongside voices connected to the residencies hosted at Gaswerk. Returning in summer 2026 for its fourth edition, the festival unfolds across two weekends with six days of concerts and special formats dedicated to Radical Live Music, bringing together experimental electronics, African sounds, dub, avant-pop, kraut, improvisation, noise, jazz, and dance music.

For this episode, festival co-directors Letizia Trussi (aka Elle Kai) and Andreas Völk welcome guest artist Wanja Slavin, leader of the contemporary jazz ensemble libelle, and present the programme for July 31 at Gaswerk Music Days - a day devoted to bands, ensembles and instrumental constellations shaped by experimentation, improvisation and a strong sense of collective play. Alongside music and stories from libelle and Embryo, we will listen to live recordings by Crazy Mega Jam, the evolving collective project curated by Andreas Völk, bringing together a core group of Gaswerk resident musicians and invited guests in ever-changing formations.
