Timcheh Radio — omjvinyls (Analog Afghan and Afghan Cassette Archive)

Created in solidarity with the people of Iran and Afghanistan, this mix centers Afghanistan while tracing shared struggles across the SWANA region. Blending archival recordings from the Afghan Cassette Archive with contemporary sounds, the set reflects on displacement, exile, and the emotional weight of leaving one’s homeland, while uplifting ongoing fights for women’s equality, freedom, and dignity. The mix also includes selections rooted in the poetry of Iranian figures such as Mohammad-Taqi Bahar, one of the most influential poets of modern Iran .

This mix is dedicated to the people of Iran and Afghanistan; to all Afghan and Iranian artists and musicians, both within their homelands and across the diaspora; and to all refugees and displaced communities—from Gaza to Lebanon to Iran to Afghanistan and beyond—whose histories of movement, survival, and resistance are deeply intertwined. It is also dedicated to my dear friend Mehrad of Juzz Records in Iran.

Through sound, this set becomes both an archive and a gesture of solidarity—bridging past and present, and honoring the voices that persist across borders.
