mokeyanju presents "Sauti ya àkókò" (sauti ya [swahili]: the sound of / àkókò [yorùbá]: time around an event), a show on ancestral and astral poetic historicities in timeless sounds from african, caribbean and diasporic corners of the world. The concept of time in Yorùbá philosophy is a vast complexity. Sauti ya àkókò envisions possible re-inventions of a complex self in a complex time with mesmerizing records and testimonies fusing the definition of past and present. Sometimes accompanied by surprise guests who help process the sounds and dances of mere existence in the future.
