"Miniteka" Latina Vol. 1 pays tribute to Latin American music subgenres, other sounds, edits, reggaeton-dembow & the mythical Changa Tuki (a.k.a Raptor House) which is a lifestyle, dance and music genre derived from electronic music that originated in Caracas, Venezuela in early-1990s.
Miniteca is a Venezuelan phrase that refers to a "group of people whose job it is to entertain a party with recorded music" or "set of sound devices, cassettes, records, and lights that are used by the members of the Miniteca," according to the Dictionary of the Royal Academy.
It is believed that the word "Miniteca" initially appeared in 1978, but this was not the case about 10 years before Polygram "without much relevance" as a release of several albums, precisely with the name "Miniteca". Then they evolved into true Mobile Discotheques, the meeting or competition between these companies was called Guerras, a name that was also inspired by the cinematographic wave that changed the film industry in the 80s, such as "Star Wars" and the teenagers who were in a "freaky" wave. They took that as part of a movement and gathering; the best known "War," which had a lot of relevance in the media, was the celebration of the first National War of Minitecas on December 7, 1979, with the sponsorship of an AM radio station.
Our "Miniteka" with K, operates as a mobile queer club that can emerge in any location and is offering the sort of uninhibited dance floor freedom that delivers on dance music's original inclusive promise. It is also shining a spotlight on different generations of queer, female, trans & non-binary DJ/artists. We want to make it different not in a norm-oriented techno, house, latin subgenres scenes. (Miniteka is essentially devoid of music boundaries, although it will never be super mainstream.)
