The third edition of the show is dedicated to a remarkable Turkmen musician, the guiding spirit behind modern ethno-pop who’s still around today: Atabaý Çarygulyýew. Back in the late ’80s, his lightning-fast grooves, synth-pop style, and heavy use of the vocoder opened up a whole new path for electronic music in the Caspian region, so-called “Muslim wedding synth-pop.”
This episode will talk about key moments in his life, and showcase both his music legacy and some newer tunes from Turkmenistan that keep his influence alive.
