“Chai Wala Presents: Spice Safari” is a radio show concept that celebrates music from across the globe, unweaving the global music tapestry and shedding light on the cultures, history and crafts that form its fabric. More than just a collection of songs, Spice Safari traces the threads woven into the music: the artists and their stories, the musical scenes they belong to, and the wider histories and global forces that kindled them.

The name “Chai Wala” stems firstly from Indra’s love of Masala Chai, and secondly from his Indian heritage as an Indian-Australian. Like a cup of chai - steeped in spice, warmth and complexity - he is enthralled by music infused with global flavours - brewed in the rhythms, harmony and melodies that have migrated across time and space, shaped by diaspora and cultural exchange.
