Bassline Knowledge Workshop Series

Hosted at Cupra City Garage in Berlin Mitte.

By Staff

Beginning on November 12 and running until December 3rd, we will host Thursday evening workshops/talks around the topics of DJing and music production. All sessions will be free to attend (via the RSVP forms linked below), and take place at the Cupra City Garage, Aaron-Bernstein-Platz 1.

On November 12, we begin the program with a talk entitled Authenticity, DJing and Cultural Appropriation, exploring the boundaries between respect or appreciation and exploitation of a style from a foreign culture. The talk invites Brazilian DJ, curator and graphic artist Rafush, alongside Berlin underground icon Sarah Farina and DJ, producer and host of the Coping Club show on Refuge, Pooja B.

The following Thursday, Body Language co-founder Stella Zekri and Adam Cooke will discuss the art of a warm-up set and why it is so vital to the success of a club night as a whole.

Next, Nene H invites upcoming producers to submit work-in-progress demo tracks to listen to in a small, intimate group and share feedback. This session will be on November 26th.

Finally, on December 3rd, acclaimed multi-genre DJ and founder of the subglow event and label, CCL, will talk about with Nadia Marcus how to get the most out of a B2B set, and things to watch out for, right from the offer up until the night itself.

RSVP for all sessions below, and thanks to Cupra for supporting the initiative. This project is organised by Unity in the Community gUG, the education-focused, non-profit led by Refuge Worldwide.
