MELANIN

Myriam Konté (1996, Paris) is a DJ, composer and instrumentalist. Her musical project (MELANIN) was born in 2018 in Seoul, South Korea when she obtained her diploma from IESEG Paris. Until 2021, MELANIN co-hosted a series of cultural and musical events notably with the Seoul National Museum (SeMA) and Seoul Community Radio. As a DJ, MELANIN has toured in Asia : Korea, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand. MELANIN is resident at Oroko Radio an independent radio based in Accra, Ghana. Her sets for Kiosk Radio and Keep Hush London are inspired by the soundsystem, block parties and rave cultures. From jungle, Dnb, breakbeat to reggae, dub and dancehall with field recording sounds that meet captivating and nostalgic melodies. MELANIN has worked with vocalists Reinel Bakole, Delish Da Goddess, CAMO, NIARIU and Sister Nancy. Multidisciplinary artist, MELANIN performed in art centers such as Le Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles, Palais de Tokyo, in Paris, De Ateliers in Amsterdam and more recently at the Dakar Biennale. Her single and EP ‘MATAM DREAM’ is an ode to children from the diaspora who dream of returning home, MELANIN undertakes several trips to Senegal to rediscover sounds. This year, she presented “MATAM DREAM” live in Desingel Antwerp, La Kaserne Basel and La Boule Noire Paris.
