Krantinaari

Krantinaari is a rapper, system designer, and cultural architect dedicated to bridging communities through music, storytelling, and grassroots collaboration. Blending folk traditions with hip-hop, she creates a sound that preserves cultural heritage while amplifying underrepresented voices and building sustainable ecosystems for artists and communities alike. She is also the co-founder and leader of Wild Wild Women, a pioneering collective reshaping the landscape of Indian hip-hop through women-led expression and resistance.

Alongside Charu Hariharan, a music director, composer, percussionist, producer, and vocalist, Krantinaari is leading Sound of Women under their company Folk Soul — a grassroots music initiative dedicated to increasing the representation of women in music while archiving disappearing folk songs, oral traditions, and dying languages.

Having witnessed women being forbidden from even touching musical instruments, both Charu and Krantinaari began with a simple but urgent question: Why are women missing from the music scene? That question evolved into a movement.

Sound of Women is envisioned as a living, breathing platform for women-led folk music — one that reclaims sound as a space for resilience, memory, and identity. Its debut edition focuses on the Kumaoni region of Uttarakhand, weaving together traditional storytelling, raw vocals, and rooted melodies to honor the voices of women who have long carried culture in silence.
