Reading Night: Blush

This reading night is the fourth in an ongoing series by writer Madeleine Pollard, inviting people to share work around a theme. It’s aimed at shy writers in particular: anyone with half-finished poems in their notes app or stories they've been hesitant to share. Join us Thursday 10th September at our new home, Refuge Worldwide, for an evening of writings inspired by 𝘣𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘩. 𝘣𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘩 (n.) an involuntary rush of blood to the surface of the skin, triggered by feelings of embarrassment, shame, attraction, arousal. From the Old English 𝘣𝘭𝘺𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘯 (”to glow, to burn”) ~ Old Norse 𝘣𝘭𝘺𝘴 (“flame, torch”): a flash, a flare, a sudden illumination. Welcoming writings on eroticism and embarrassment, crushes and cringe, seeing and being seen – or whatever 𝘣𝘭𝘶𝘴𝘩 evokes for you. We’ll hear from scheduled speakers during the first half of the evening; the second half will be open mic. First-time writers/readers encouraged ꨄ 10€ recommended donation on the door.
