Focus Shift: Navigating the Evolving Landscape of Photography with Andrew White
Andrew White is an editorial and documentary photographer. After working in the skateboard industry as a videographer and editor during his early twenties, he moved to New York City to attend the documentary photography and photojournalism program at The International Center of Photography. Since graduating in 2012, Andrew has photographed for such clients as The New York Times, Apple Computers, WIRED Magazine, GQ, and more.
Since 2016, Andrew has worked for Beyoncé as one of her personal photographers, chronicling her world tours and photographing her private life. This workshop delves into the deeper essence of photography, where connecting and adapting take precedence over technical prowess. He’ll focus on the dynamics between photographer and subject in the spheres of club, event and nightlife photography, underscoring the importance of empathy and making work that feels authentic. The workshop aims to explore how photographers can strategically position themselves within the constantly shifting industry, emphasizing adaptability, effective self-promotion, and the intricacies of managing a freelance career. Rather than a technical tutorial, this session offers insights and practical advice for thriving amidst change and leveraging opportunities.
