Ableton Live Workshop with Banu

Applications are now open for a new workshop series guiding people through finishing a track on Ableton Live.

Starting on the 14th of September, we will be running weekly sessions at our Niemetzstraße 1 space with Dr. Banu Çiçek Tülü. Participants are invited to bring an unfinished project with them, and over the space of 3 weeks will receive technical, creative, and emotional guidance through finishing their tracks (please note that neither mixing nor mastering will be covered in this workshop).

Banu finds herself between music, sound art installations and research, using music production and DJing as an artistic tool for activism. She has been invited to share her installations and exhibitions all over Europe, the US and Africa. Her work uses multi-channel video, analog synthesis, light, field recordings, sculpture, large textile installations and weaving to explore feminist and queer sonic methodologies where the female migrant body is present. She believes in the political possibility of sound and music, which she utilizes as an empowerment tool for minority groups with an emphasis on BIPOC* and LGBTQI+ communities.

She has won numerous fellowships for her work, including a residency for young music producers in Namibia called Electric Desert. Between 2018-2021, she was a lecturer at the Humboldt University in Berlin, and 2023-2025 at the Sound Studies and Sonic Acts MA program at Berlin Arts University and in 2024 had a guest lecturer position in the College of the Arts, Music Department in Windhoek, Namibia. Banu has played renowned Berlin clubs such as Berghain along with touring major European, African and LATAM venues like Bassiani Tbilisi, Modular Cape Town and D-edge in Rio de Janeiro. Her work has been awarded one of the Top Albums of 2022 by DJ Mag and received critical acclaim from other publications such as Clot Magazine.
