Vibrational Repair | Anguezomo & Rusnam

With Anguezomo and Rusnam

"Vibrational Repair: Para-Ecological Rituals of the Global South" explores sound as a form of "pirate-care" protest and botanical medicine. This session weaves deep digital frequencies with the bio-acoustics of flora, exploring how acoustic resonance can foster collective grief-work, environmental justice, and somatic restitution.

The sonic meditation is a story on looking at analog sound colonial archives as forensic criminal data, how plants respond to the human world through sound frequencies, how genocides can be remembered by 4000 year old cacti plants in the Namib desert and how Black female musicians denounced colonial ecological destructions through song as methods for revolt. The sound meditation is a deep research into understanding how the sound of revolution is at the core of ecological protest and channeled by the Black women creatives who led these eco-movements in their art. From the corporate silencing of the 1920s Weimar laboratory to the unyielding, un-cageable frequencies of the global diaspora, we cross-examine the earth as a living forensic witness. Anguezomo charts an acoustic mapping of survival:

  • Translating the bio-electric canopy of the Bwiti ritual networks in Gabon and the 2,000-year-old Onyanga witnesses of the Namib desert.

  • Highlighting the anti-colonial leaf-playing of Afro-Brazilian Biluka, the ancestral mbira codes of Stella Chiweshe and Mbuya Madhuve, and the forensic vocal cartography of Siti binti Saad (Zanzibar) and Susan Mapfumo.
