The 15th edition of The Naked Reviews, first broadcast on the 15th of July elicited this super-basic formula:

"Yes, we celebrate a Rapper who snatched me away from proclamations such as, I don’t get gangsta rap and its vulgarities. A virtuoso wordsmith who had so much to say, from a life I hardly knew but could grasp.

I’ll spin you some of my favourite JAY tracks, and the stories that might be of interest to you.

I’ll share my perspective on who this energy is, offering a critical take on a Great American life story, viewed through their artistry. Music is like Sports, regardless of the class you’re born into, you can gain tremendous access to the world through the mastery of your craft, and people embracing your perceived / presumed authenticity.

By offering up the government name of SHAUN COREY CARTER, we could also distinguish between the myth that is JAY-Z and the legend that is the former.

Plus, I will share my renewed love for M NIGHT SHYAMALAN, all thanks to a re-watch of his movie TRAP, with JOSH HARTNETT and his gifted daughter SALEKA. If you doubt this is a 5 star experience, imagine it in Black & White, imagine it scene-for-scene as a HITCHCOCK picture. I haven’t seen a genre film by a Writer-Director be this diabolical and this accessible.

Then there’s SHIRLEY with REGINA KING, TERRENCE HOWARD & LANCE REDDICK. The story of the first Black Woman to run for the Democratic Party’s Presidential nomination. In other words, to attempt to be the US President in 1972.

The film is nothing special till you realise it is something very special. This moment may find you in the first 30 minutes or in the last 30 minutes, and when it does, you will catch yourself looking forward to rewatching it! Audacious, ambitious and a true catalyst for change... What a film!
