Sounds of Origin aims to bring back silence aka invisible (Columbia) aka Welto (Martinique) aka Om (India) aka Qi (China). This concept is a commonality across many ancient cultures that gave it different names but refers to the same thing. This is what we have been taught to ignore, or rather not taught to acknowledge, living in modernity in the West. Silence, the original thought, and our authentic selves must be reclaimed.

In one of the indigenous traditions from which Felipe learns, the ik-arhuaco from the Sierra Nevada Gonawindua in Colombia, the invisible is viewed as the origin of thought. The dream, or the spiritual dimension, refers to the notion that at the basic understanding of life, humans are part of the natural world, which immediately assigns a notion of the self as relational to other living beings and the natural world. Life in Western capitalist modernity directly contests this notion, distancing us from our communal nature.

In Berlin, we ask: How do we extend that understanding to our relational others beyond our circle? How does creating everyday conversation with Berlin and the swamps and forests here before this city help us silently connect, and at the same time deeply listen to those whom we share our home?
