Sonic Journey | Banu & Nasim

With Banu

Emotions are evoked by sound, which is a vibration that moves around our bodies. Our bodies are involved in listening. We carry all the information and sound in our bodies. Sonic Journey attempts to explore the relationship between sound, memory, auditory perception, and music in each episode. Guests are invited to share their own perceptions of auditory knowledge related to the chosen topic, accompanied by music and DJ sets. Nomadic producer and artist Banu facilitates every episode and takes the show with her wherever she goes.

Nasim is an enchanting soulful singer, songwriter, and performer. She was born and raised in Namibia, but originally hails from Ethiopia and Jordan. Her musical journey began as a young child singing in the Baha'ì Centre Windhoek, which gave her the validation and confidence to start singing at school. Eventually, Nasim was performing at venues all over Windhoek as her exposure to the creative community grew during her time in University. She currently shares her gift through putting her twist on multiple genres including jazz and R'n'B, Pop, Afropop and even Rock. As a songwriter she has written for several artists including Namibian Annual Music Awards winner Doris (Singer-songwriter) and co-written with local Namibian artist Sean K (Singer-Songwriter) for his new album, as well as her own original music.
