NYC Experimental Downtown Scene in the 80's & 90's | Professor DJ Anthony

We're going to explore some of the music created in the 80s and 90s in NYC's downtown music scene. This was a time when the jazz, fusion and improvisational music began to open up to the influences of hip-hop, electronic, minimal, and heavy metal. We'll explore the scene and some of the artists involved by diving into a few of the compositions of two masters, Steve Coleman and John Zorn, to get a glimpse of their vision and motivations.
