With SONIC SUPPORT, Abbas Zahedi and Tom Harris
This month's transmission was recorded outdoors for the first time, in the garden at Royal Trinity Hospice. The sounds of the space; birds, sky and passing air traffic; fold into the session as much as anything played.
Abbas Zahedi and Tom Harris present a monthly series of live performances and radio transmissions exploring grief, care and the act of listening. Each month alternates between collective live sessions recorded at Royal Trinity Hospice (London) and studio sessions in Nottingham, with Zahedi and Harris as the sonic core of the series, with space for additional collaborators across both formats. Every iteration takes a distinct, improvisational approach to shared presence and engagement with experiences of grief, death and dying.
The series forms part of a wider year-long project — SONIC SUPPORT: ECO (The Extracorporeal Orchestra) — in which Zahedi works across hospices, hospitals and public sites to create spaces for collective and individual listening, exploring how sound can support reflection, care and creative expression within end-of-life and healthcare contexts.
SONIC SUPPORT: ECO forms part of Imperial Health Charity's Artist in Residence Programme, delivered in collaboration with Studio Voltaire, and supported by Arts Council England and Imperial Health Charity.
