Bubble World | Mr Clean

As part of Bubble World's all-day radio takeover, Mr Clean presents a mix of his first new music in 23 years. Here, his customary palette of tape loops, small casio keyboards, percussion, and effects are blended together with samples from dozens of pop hits released between the years 1988 and 1992. Framing the mix are excerpts from a tape he found in a box on the street, which contains an audio love letter from a girl named Megan to her boyfriend Simon, recorded sometime in 1991. Sampled by Mr Clean, Megan’s devotional narrowcast becomes a more universal plea for love, sent out across time and space through a haze of pop memories, tape noise, and room tone.
