Hemşerim Memleket Nire?

With Bengisu Çağlayan

“Hemşerim Memleket Nire?” is my selection from the colossal legacy of Barış Manço, an artist and a true wordsmith whom I keep returning to after twenty-two years of his passing. In this one hour show, you will listen to the below-mentioned songs and excerpts, including instrumental interpretations of folk songs, original works by Manço himself, fantastic solos from his band Kurtalan Ekspres who toured with Manço in many of his concert tours, their performance on German TV, and a duet with his peer Cem Karaca. If you get caught in the feeling of wonder and fascination while listening to this episode, I highly recommend you to check renk.’s article on Barış Manço in order to get acquainted with this great chapter of music as well as intellectual production in Turkey between the ‘70s and the ’90s.
