ANIMA SGN presents Unlearning Space, a new conversation series “ECHEA – A Space for Sonic Resonance and Reflection.” This platform amplifies voices and practices from the worlds of music, sound art, film, and contemporary art, spotlighting projects initiated by independent creatives and collectives around the globe.
In today’s episode, we tune into the 2024 Residency Program by Unlearning Space, an experimental art education and research platform based in the coastal village of Hado-ri on Jeju Island, South Korea. Founded by artist and researcher Yo-E Ryou, Unlearning Space invites artists into collective inquiry through sonic practices and embodied research, focusing on themes of body, water, and women. The residency brought together a series of poetic contributions from artists such as Kodac Ko, shaped by Clarice Lispector’s Agua Viva and the sensory, symbolic, and material dimensions of water.
Hosted by ANIMA SGN founder Linh in conversation with both Yo-E Ryou and Kodac Ko, this conversation opens up questions around hydrofeminism, deep listening, and posthumanist aesthetics.
