An Hour Of Jazz | George Earnest & rhinoçéros

With George Earnest, and rhinoçéros

An Hour Of Jazz is back, kicking off the second season inviting proprietors of jazz venues, jam session organizers, and other key figures in the Berlin jazz scene.

For this episode, we invite Bénédict Berna, one half of the wonderful couple who own 'rhinoçéros', a jazz 'kissa', or listening bar based in Prenzlauer Berg in Berlin.

Jazz 'kissa' are a staple of Japan, quiet, usually small listening bars, characterized by their excellent sound systems and record collections. Often, they are owned and run by individual proprietors.

rhinoçéros is a jazz fans delight, a beautiful, warm, cosy space with an incredible audio setup and a collection of fantastic records to do it justice. Open to all for drinks and food (both of which are stellar), and also home to a great programme of listening sessions for specific records.

Bénédict will be bringing a collection of records from the bars collection to play live, so you can get a taste of what they're about.
