Klangbrücken - Generation Sound

A project for intergenerational conversation and collaboration

By Staff

Refuge Worldwide is excited to announce Klangbrücken – Generation Sound, a new project exploring Berlin's music and creative industries through the perspectives of different generations.

Rooted in the city's rich club culture, the project brings together established pioneers and emerging voices for a programme built around intergenerational exchange through music, conversation and joint creativity. Over the course of the project, we are producing five 2-hour radio shows covering topics including music journalism, event curation, the Berlin dub and house music scenes, and artist management & promotion, alongside three studio collaborations between artists from different generations. Our goal is to strengthen diversity in Berlin's cultural scene by making different perspectives and creative approaches visible, audible and tangible.

Outside of the booth, three artist pairings will be producing a 3-track EP to be released in August on our in-house label, including Nick Höppner & Green Ink, Monty Luke & Georgia Bird and Born In Flamez & b1unt b1ade.

The first episode will be streamed on June 8th, 12:00 - 14:00. Tune in each Monday from then onwards to hear from Michael Leuffen & Christina Plett, Melissa Taylor & Agnese Ghinassi, Eyal Vexler & Aimé Dabbadie, Paul St. Hilaire & Richard Akingbehin and Robert Owens & Natalie Robinson.

Join us also on Friday, June 5th, for an evening of conversation, music, and community exploring parenthood within the music industry. RSVP here. The panel brings together artists, musicians, producers, and cultural workers from different generations and backgrounds for an open conversation around care work, creative survival, and building more inclusive music scenes across different stages of life.

This project is funded through the IMPACT-Förderung by the Berliner Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalt.
