ICE OUT Fundraiser.
By Staff
Inspired by AAPI (Asian American & Pacific Islander) month in the US, a community event introducing some of Berlin’s Asian diaspora community through music, food, and connection will be hosted in the Refuge Worldwide space.
The evening blends relaxed hangouts featuring Southeast Asian mancala games, a Filipino food pop-up by Masarap, and a traditional Korean tattoo artist— with radio programming by a local Indonesian music collective and a 100% Show dive into the world of Taiwanese-influenced Mando R&B and hip-hop.
Closing this hangout is a karaoke session hosted by Pinay “karaoke jockey”, following Asian house party traditions, supported by a Korean apothecary brand with donation of their new recovery shots as giveaways! This community event is free to attend, but the organisers will also be collecting donations to align in solidarity with the !CE OUT movement and related initiatives opposing anti-immigrant rhetoric and action. In doing so, the aim is to foster support for overseas diaspora, making the statement that cultural observances matter across borders – whether officially recognized or not… and so does what happens to diaspora communities, wherever they may be.
Donations will also be split with International Women* Space, a Berlin-based feminist and anti-racist collective made up of migrant, refugee, and non-migrant women. The group focuses on supporting refugee women and advocating around issues like asylum rights, deportation, and social isolation.
