Juan-A. Vignon | TONAK is a versatile artist in the realm of electronic music. Hailing from Paris, his creativity is the product of a diverse cultural background, being the son of a Colombian mother and a Beninese father, and having lived in Canada and Brazil before returning to the French capital.
Besides collecting and archiving records with his platform TONAK.fm, he spearheads the Nuit Noire Project, a regarded initiative that transcends musical conventions to craft a sonic universe of unique depth. As a resident on the esteemed broadcasting platforms Rinse France and Piñata Radio, he shapes a musical landscape infused with deep house, jazz-funk, and Afro-Latin influences.
His musical footprint extends far beyond the borders of Paris. He has been invited to share his music on renowned radio stations like Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM or Balamii in London, Skylab Radio in Melbourne, or Radio Kapital in Warsaw. On stage, TONAK has electrified iconic venues in the French capital such as Djoon, Sacré Nouveau Casino, Maison de la Radio, as well as audiophile havens like Bambino, Doublevie, Stéréo, and Montezuma.
Beyond his activity as a DJ, TONAK is the orchestrator of the artistic programming for Nuit Noire, curating encounters with talents as diverse as they are promising, including Haseeb Iqbal, Anders, LAANI, Bass Toast, LeLeon, Marbré, OMA, Imani Griffon, Tactic, Vénus d’Argent, or Ethel to name a few.
