The Zahíno community is an Indigenous Wayuu community in southern La Guajira, known for its strong cultural roots, deep territorial knowledge, and active participation in regional social processes. It is the ancestral territory of renowned social leaders such as Jakeline Romero Epiayú, as well as emerging young voices like Génesis Gutiérrez and María Gutiérrez.
Génesis Gutiérrez, a Wayuu Epiayu from the Zahino community in southern La Guajira, brings a wealth of community experience rooted in her own life and her involvement with the Fuerza de Mujeres Wayuu (Wayuu Women’s Force). As a student of film and audiovisual studies, she has ventured into the world of documentary photography, undertaking personal projects and contributing to documentary productions within the region, taking on roles in field production and still photography.
