TEST

Test is a grindcore band from São Paulo formed by João Kombi (composition, guitar, vocals) and Thiago Barata (composition, drums). Test is originally known for their guerrilla-style performances outside major metal shows, powered by a generator on board a Kombi van. Since they began playing on the streets in 2011, Test has grown significantly, celebrating their fourteenth anniversary with an impressive portfolio that includes 16 releases—ranging from full-length albums and EPs to split albums with bands from around the world, such as Chepang (Nepal), Cloud Rat and Ixias (U.S.A.), and Struggle Session (China). The band has also produced two feature films, sold over ten thousand records, and played more than eight hundred shows across Brazil, along with fourteen international tours.

In 2015, Test released their second full-length album, “Espécies,” which marked a shift in their musical direction. While still rooted in deathgrind, their style began to incorporate elements from other genres, reflecting the spontaneous nature of their compositional process. The band has also experimented with its lineup: originally a duo, Test expanded to a “big band” format for select performances, with more than 14 musicians on stage at once, enhancing the varied textures and dynamics of the songs from “Espécies.”

Currently, Test is on an extensive tour to promote their latest album, “Disco Normal,” released in 2023.
