Taro

Originally from Colorado, USA, and now based in Taiwan, Taro has established himself as a distinctive voice in the underground dance music scene through his time cultivating connections in Berlin's vibrant electronic community. A skilled practitioner of modular synthesis and hardware-based production, he creates immersive sonic experiences that bridge the gap between studio craftsmanship and live performance. Taro's debut EP Tendril caught the attention of London-based label Baroque Sunburst, marking the beginning of a promising trajectory in electronic music. His subsequent single "Gas Burn" became the lead track on the label's compilation Baroquism, garnering support from influential DJs across the scene. The track's impact was recognized when ANSIA's Piezo featured it as one of 2023's standout releases in DJ Mag, while Berlin veteran Flørist contributed a compelling remix that further amplified its reach. Following his relocation to Taiwan, Taro released his sophomore EP Nock on ANKR, showcasing a bold evolution in his artistic vision. This release marks a deliberate departure from his earlier ambient-leaning IDM approach, incorporating dynamic elements of electro, breaks, and dub alongside driving basslines that demand attention. Each track functions as a meticulously crafted 3-4 minute journey, weaving together diverse arrangement concepts into cohesive mini-compositions that reflect his deepening understanding of both studio production and dancefloor dynamics.
