‘SURUU’ aka Oolong is known, widely through soft Chinese whispers as ‘master in the art of superior quality dancefloor sound’ Never uncomfortable on the ear, this cult DJ, obsessive digger and selectors selekta from London, by way of Hong Kong (where he was previously based for 5 years) exists in a space where music transcends genre, or geography to convene in a sound appreciated by true connoisseurs and the most discerning of ears. Music knows no bounds. After a 5 year spell in Asia, playing festivals and the deepest underground spots across Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, and Bali, he’s now based in Barcelona where he immerses himself in the art of sharing quality sound, also curates his own underground event, TEA - Truthful Exchange Audio. TEA as a project focuses on quality electronic sound, infused with fine tea culture, holistic therapy and arts & craft. A meaningful experience. 2023 has seen SURUU on absolute fire, with appearances at Jazztronica Festival (main stage), Primavera Sound (for Soho House), VanVan Food (a 4hr closing set b2b alongside local legend Virginie aka Vir), a warm up set for Crazy P w/ Drop Dance Society, a monthly residency at Salvadiscos, and numerous appearances for Soho House and Little Beach House in Garraf. October see’s no let, with long awaited performances for Soundit on the 7th and a Halloween special for Brunch Electronic on the 28th amongst others. SURUU is one of the hardest working selectors on the scene, not to mention good character, good ear and innate dancefloor intelligence, to which he executes with calmness, pleasure and precision. The art of ‘warming up’ a room, is something SURUU masters. Alas, has supported many internationally known acts and dj’s over the years, such as ‘Hot Chip’ (dj set in Hong Kong), Solomun, Soul Clap, Nicolas Jaar, Apparat, Jamie Jones, Cassy, Dyed Soundorom, Atjazz, Damian Lazarus, Art Department and DJ THREE to name just a few.
