Spāre

Spāre is a Latvian sound and visual artist creating delicate, cinematic soundscapes that seem to drift between the organic and the artificial. Works with violin, live instruments, electronics, pump organ, field recordings, and environmental sound. Interested in humor and calmness in sound without words. Mixes acoustic instruments (e.g. harp, violin) with electronic processing and raw, nature-based sound design. Creates layered, collage-based sonic environments (“a landscape gardening collage music” approach). Often works from imagined perspectives of animals or objects, translating what they might perceive, see or feel into sound. Background in classical violin.
