Don’t forget how to dream…’

As the world lived under lockdown, two old friends, DJ's and music producers decided to finally form a musical union. The producers? German born Panorama Bar resident DJ nd Baumecker and American musician and performer Snax. The union? Snecker.

An initial foray making a bootleg remix of a Lada Gaga track led to weekly meetings at Baumecker's studio on the Berghain campus. Jams would last for hours as Baumecker tinkered with his vast array of gear, Snax hopped from keyboard to keyboard, and everything was recorded. At Snax's studio across town, arrangements were solidified and vocals added.

Soon, files and files of heady, psychedelic and groovy music piled up on hard drives and Snecker was primed for their first release on Vienna's Freeride Millenium, the aptly titled ep MANDEMIC. Joined by Captain Comatose on guest vocals, the ep made a splash with tastemakers like Erol Alkan, Tim Sweeny and Rotciv, who raved, '...the beats, the acid, the voices, quirky noises and effects... and that break!! wow!’

Snax recalls. 'During the pandemic, it became difficult to fantasize and dream about glamorous things like going out dancing, performing, sleazing around, etc. because everything had ground to a halt and there was no telling when things would come around again. So basically I was telling myself ‚don’t forget how to dream‘ because if we don’t dream we‘re dead. I recited the lyrics into my phone while I was jogging.' How To Dream would soon be the lead track from Snecker's debut EP, released on Permanent Vacation. Further remixes and recordings followed, their latest track Wet Word being featured on the Klubnacht 01 compilation from Berghain’s re-launched imprint Ostgut Ton.

As a DJ duo, Snecker is currently serving dance floors a diverse blend of smart and sexy music, curated as only two with a long creative history can provide. Baumecker and Snax's tag team sets excite, provoke, inspire, hypnotize and most importunely, groove.
