Sascha Cowan (b. 1995) is a trans* multidisciplinary artist and artisan, from Montreal (Canada), based in Berlin. A graduate of the École Supérieure de Théâtre (UQAM), he is a director of visual theatre influenced by underground queer performance. As co-founder and artistic director of Erratum, they have developed works such as FAGGOT*S (2025) and many other pieces presented at Hošek Contemporary, Berliner Ringtheater and Théâtre aux Écuries (Montreal). Sascha is a curator for WIDE OPEN, a platform for experimental queer performance, producing their own events at New Fears Gallery, while also curating art performances for major players of the German scene such as Lecken, QueerPool, Buttons, Whole Festival. Their work is guided by a radical and sensual desire to blur the boundaries between stage, darkroom and dancefloor.
Since 2018, they have been performing in nightlife as the drag clown persona Sascha the Fool. Mixing clowning with a trash punk aesthetic and pleasure politics, their grotesque performances take from freakshow acts, music and dance, with a strong theatricality. Drag has brought them to a multitude of cities and countries ; they won the Trashiest Act in the 2025 Spat! Nightlife Awards.
As a visual artist, he explores scenography, costume design and textile art ; they also create clothes and accessories for their own brand named The Fool’s errands. Their most recent piece, Handmade, was exhibited at Gallery Natalei Seroussi (Paris) for the group exhibition Drag Clown Affairs (2024).
