Born in Umthatha in South Africa's Eastern Cape, DJ Ra Mava acknowledges his mother as the primary source of his love for music. Through her, as a child he joyfully tuned in to the worlds of Letta Mbulu, Brenda Fassie, Miriam Makeba and Bra Hugh Masekela.
