Patrick Gibin, a UK-born DJ and producer based in Verona (Italy), is the founder of Mother Tongue, a record label, distribution service, and pressing plant that has quickly become a key reference point for all things soulful and deep since its inception in 2019. Born from Patrick’s own challenges with the impersonal nature of the music industry, especially when it came to pressing and distribution, Mother Tongue was created to offer a more hands-on, artist-centered alternative. The idea was simple: create a space where artists and labels could trust the process and build lasting, personal relationships with everyone involved. Patrick’s own musical output is a reflection of his diverse influences, where house, broken beat, and 80s music blend together in a way that feels both classic and contemporary. Collaborating with artists like Kaidi Tatham, Ron Trent, Joe Claussell, Josh Milan, Volcov, and Theo Parrish, his work spans a range of styles while always centering on groove, soul, and authenticity. His discography includes original productions, remixes, and edits released on Eglo, Neroli, Sounds Familiar, Salsoul, Razor n Tape, BBE, Visions, Ten Lovers Music, and Mother Tongue. His Black Aroma series, released under the moniker Twice on Blend It!, showcases his talent for editing overlooked jazz-funk and boogie gems, earning lasting acclaim. Patrick’s guest shows on NTS, The Lot Radio, Worldwide FM, Dekmantel and Red Light Radio, Kiosk, and Rocket Radio highlight his affinity for mellow, laidback tunes that define his eclectic music collection. A passionate promoter of the music he loves, Patrick has been throwing parties for over 15 years, winning fans worldwide with his groovy, relentless DJ style. Building on this legacy, Patrick’s debut album Strength in Numbers on his Mother Tongue imprint encapsulates his signature deep and soulful sound, blending jazz-infused dancefloor grooves, house, boogie, and acid influences. In 2025 the project was expanded even further with a special remix EP by Joaquin Joe Claussell, who reworked three album tracks with his trademark spiritual depth and musical intensity, marking an important milestone in Patrick’s artistic journey.
