NATALIA ESCOBAR

Natalia Escobar is a Colombian artist, producer, and DJ based in Berlin. Working across sound, performance, and moving image, her practice unfolds through a constellation of alter egos. As Poison Arrow, she blends Colombian cultural tropes with a cross-border electronic language. Pierce with Arrow, her collaboration with Troy Pierce, merges sound, scent, and image, while KOAXULA, co-founded with Daniela Huerta, decolonizes feminine archetypes through mythological and speculative sound performances. She has released on Dais Records, Pleasure District, and Exit Records.

Escobar has performed internationally at venues and festivals including MUTEK MX, CTM Festival, Gaswerk Music Days, Neue Nationalgalerie, Berghain, Tresor, Funkhaus Berlin, Watergate, Video Club, The Loft, and Moog. Her sets weave diverse genres into sophisticated, playful sonic narratives.

Alongside her music practice, Escobar’s artistic work explores Abya Yala phenomenology, Indigenous cosmovisions, memory, and identity through decolonial and feminist perspectives. Her work has been presented at Haus der Kulturen der Welt and Berlinische Galerie in Berlin, Centro de Cultura Digital and Museo Flor de Chinampas in Mexico City, La Casa Encendida in Madrid, and the National Museum of Colombia and Cinemateca de Bogotá in Bogotá. Her film Aribada premiered at the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival, receiving nominations for the L’Œil d’or and Queer Palm, and winning awards at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, Festival Internacional de Cine de Cali, and Stuttgarter Filmwinter – Festival for Expanded Media, among others.

She is also the founder of GÓTIKO TROPIKAL, an evolving series of audiovisual events, screenings, performances, and radio programs showcasing artists from Abya Yala and its diaspora.
