Guedra Guedra is the project of Moroccan producer Abdellah M. Hassak, who grounds his work in the philosophies of Afrofuturism and decolonisation. He sees sound as a form of cartography, mapping human connection through rhythm and tone rather than territory. The project celebrates that same adaptability, using the tools of modern production to amplify ancestral knowledge. Each composition becomes a conversation between ceremony and circuitry.
His debut album Mutant (On the Corner Records) gathers sounds from across the African continent – field recordings, hand percussion, ancient instruments, and electronic pulses. Drum rhythms from Guinea, a vocal line from the Maasai, or Moroccan violin phrases are renewed, treated equally as part of an ongoing dialogue. His name itself – a pot turned into a drum – encapsulates this transformation: a vessel to feed both body and spirit
