Courtroom Drama is the moniker of Jose Teixeira, a Berlin-based, Brazilian-born sonic artist & enthusiast of dance music’s underground bass scene.
Known for his exploration of low-end frequencies, presenting elastic, asymmetrical rhythms and unconventional, glitchy sound design techniques, Teixeira’s work under the Courtroom Drama alias pushes the boundaries of contemporary leftfield electronic music, skillfully weaving at the intersection of UK-rooted bass music, gravitating towards abstract, forward-thinking cuts of Breakbeat, Dubstep, House, and Techno.
When straying away from club-oriented environments, Courtroom Drama enjoys crafting sound collages, taking excerpts from interviews and movies and mixing them over MPB, Latin 70s Progressive Rock, Post-bop Jazz, and experimental Folk, offering the most discerning listeners an array of deep, unpredictable sonic narratives that maintain a distinct cohesion and bring the momentum forward.
As a resident of SKEW, Courtroom Drama has been stirring up the bass scene in Berlin, promoting club nights that showcase sounds from emerging talents alongside respected scene figureheads of underground electronic music, giving them the freedom to express their signature sound authentically and without inhibition.
