Belfast based DJ Conor Schmtz got his first major break securing a residency at Shine events at QUBSU in 2011 as one half of duo ‘Schmutz’, where he developed a reputation for his energetic style of diverse DJing, eventually inspiring him to begin planning his own future projects.
‘Schmutz’ originally began as an intimate club night, inviting DJs like Midland, Brawther, Krystal Klear, Hunee and John Talabot to small venues across the city. The emphasis was to create a hybrid of ‘fun parties’ and musical education.
After releases on labels like Omnidisc, 4 Lux, Dirt Crew, ME ME ME it wasn’t long before Schmutz was appearing at clubs all around the UK and Europe, making regular appearances at Panorama Bar including playing an infamous closing set.
Conor himself is currently resident at Ulster Sports Club where he appears monthly for a 5 + hours set covering multiple styles and sounds. He also runs his own club nights having invited the likes of Rolando, Daniel Avery, Erol Alkan, Paramida, Ryan Elliot, ND Baumecker amongst others to join him.
Recently he has also started a collaboration with longtime friend , Record store boss and vinyl enthusiast Marion Hawkes. Their ‘Sound Advice: After Hours’ party was an idea conceived in 2024 with a focus on a series of parties showcasing tastemakers, underground heroes and true music heads. Their first guest of 2025 was Prosumer, following from Jaye Ward in October they also have Test Pressing’s Apiento joining them at a secret location in July.
Conor proudly holds a significant place at the forefront of cutting-edge electronic music culture and left of centre parties in Ireland, something he has proudly done for over 15 years.
